A couple of friends have had issues with their Gmail the past couple of days, and some information that has been around for awhile is not apparently as widely known as I thought it was.
If you ever think someone has had access to your account, you can take a step to check and at least narrow some things down.
On the bottom of your Gmail, you'll see this link:
Click on it and it will bring up this window:
1. These are where you've been logged in from lately - by time.
2. Where you're logged in from now.
3. Access type.
a. Browser is pretty straightforward.
b. Google Desktop - again, obvious - but could also be an extension for your browser I believe
c. IMAP - my iPhone
d. SMTP - likely my iPhone too, but could be Thunderbird email client
e. Atom feed - I've got a secure feed that check my gmail.
4. You can sign out everything and change your password if necessary - or maybe you forgot to log out on a public machine?
*Note: I've obviously blocked out my own IP in case any of you are black hat types. There you have it, if you have ANY doubt that something strange is going on, check this first - and if you see anything out of the ordinary, log out everywhere and change your password.
